Film Screening at MOCA: ‘Your Day is My Night’

Staged in central Chinatown, Your Day is My Night is a hybrid documentary that recreates the shift-bed experience. Employing autobiographical monologues, observational footage, and performance pieces, it tells a series of stories from different generations of Chinese immigrants. Director and producer Lynne Sachs will introduce the film and talk back with Annie Ling (A Floating Population).
“Innovative in form and revealing in content, Lynne Sachs’ tenderly poetic ‘hybrid documentary’ …paints a vivid portrait of contemporary immigrant life in ‘shift-bed’ rooming houses in New York’s Chinatown.” — Vancouver International Film Festival
