A Forgotten Syndrome: Vietnam, Memory, and America’s Wars in the Middle East

This class will explore the history of the Vietnam War and its relevance to the present. We will particularly cover the legacy of the Vietnam War in understanding how America wages its “war on terror.”

We will also discuss how the “lessons” of the Vietnam War have been neglected (or forgotten) as the United States has pursued interventions in Afghanistan and Iraq.
