What does DNA look like? How does the genome work? Do you have a hard time visualizing these microscopic processes? Watch Dr. Jill Bargonetti demonstrate through movement! Watch as Dr. Bargonetti uses postmodern dance to model biological processes – including DNA replication, cell division, enzymatic reactions, chromosome structure, and cancer cell biology.
Cancer researcher and molecular biologist Jill Bargonetti is currently a Professor at Hunter College of the City University of New York (CUNY) and on the faculty of the CUNY Graduate Center in the PhD Programs of Biology and Biochemistry. Dr. Bargonetti has received numerous awards and recognitions, including a National Science Foundation Career Award and the Presidential Early Career Award for Scientists and Engineers. Professor Bargonetti is an expert in the fields of p53 and MDM2 biology. Her laboratory currently focuses on breast cancer. Dr. Bargonetti began at Hunter College as an Assistant Professor in 1994, after receiving a B.A. from the State University of New York at Purchase in 1985 and obtaining her M.S. and Ph.D. from New York University in 1987 and 1990. Dr. Bargonetti has been recognized for her outreach and teaching accomplishments at the graduate and undergraduate levels.
