The Importance (or not!) of Traditions

Traditions represent the distillation of the wisdom and practices of past generations, and they also can represent the creative practices of today.  Traditions can be inspiring and they can be constraining. Wholesome and harmful.  Enriching and enervating.  Fulfilling and burdensome.  We must re-examine and re-assess the old traditions we carry with us and generate new ones for today so as to cultivate a healthy future.
Dr. Richard Koral is a Leader-in-Training beginning his second year of part-time internship.   Last year he served his first year of internship with the Ethical Culture Society of Bergen County in New Jersey working with Dr. Joseph Chuman.
Richard is a long-time member of the Ethical Culture Society of Westchester. He has been active on its Board and served as its president in the late’90’s, early 00’s.  He was also active with the American Ethical Union, serving on its Board and was its president from 2012 to 2015.
Richard has been engaged in Leadership Training for several years in the course of which he attended the Humanist Institute and obtained a Doctor of Ministry degree from the Hebrew Union College Interfaith Pastoral Counseling Program here in New York.
