Contemporary Art in New York City Through the Korean, Japanese American Experience explores the practice of ten artists who offer their unique perspectives to the vibrant cultural fabric of New York City. Each artist hails from Korea, Japan, or a different part of the U.S., and has chosen NYC as their home. As they draw from the abundance that the city offers to fuel their prolific practices, they add their distinct histories to the ever-evolving culture of New York. Each artist’s work reflects their idiosyncratic approach to art, carrying thousands of years of history passed down by their forebearers, which is then processed through contemporary experience in the global artistic hub that is New York.

This exhibition spotlights the cross-cultural practice of these artists spanning generations and representing a diversity of backgrounds. Their journeys and inspirations have shaped their work into a dynamic blend of tradition, creativity, and cross-continental dialogue.

The exhibition is produced as a collaboration between Artue, a global online art platform, and Space776 at Rockefeller Center.
