These lectures are building up a picture of Judaism and its role in world history and should be of interest to both Jews and non-Jews. Each lecture stands on its own, so come when you can!

The study presents a rich spiritual content that has formed an especially important component of the total spiritual fabric of the evolution of mankind. It is hoped that those already familiar with the Jewish religion will find enlivening, new, and fresh ways of looking at an evolving subject.

Part 6: ROMAN RULE (63 BC). • Herod. Schools (110-10 BC). Hillel. War with Rome. Jesus. • The Tannaim (the Jewish sages). Johanan ben Zakkai (30-90 AD). Gamaliel, grandson of Hillel. • The Mishnah (200 AD). Babylon. The Talmud (completed 500).
