Lydia Johnson Dance

Laura Di Orio and Craig Hall in “NIGHT AND DREAMS”, “Trio Sonatas”, danced by Laura Di Orio, Katie Martin-Lohiya, Min Kim, and Chazz-Fenner McBride – and ensemble dancers: Erin Ginn, Catherine Gurr, Michelle Siegel, Ali Block, Jacob Taylor, and Malik Williams. “Undercurrent”, “Clearing”

Choreographer Lydia Johnson presents her Lydia Johnson Dance, joined by guest artist MaliQ Williams, former member of Mark Morris Dance Group.  The Company will appear in a world premiere by Johnson, as well as two repertory works: the 2022 “For Eli,” set to Chopin piano pieces and called “…shattering, and one of the finest new dances I’ve seen since the pandemic ended” (Jerry Hochman, critical dance), and the 2012 “Night of the Flying Horses,” to composer Osvaldo Golijov’s piece of the same name.   NYC Dance Stuff found the work “…filled with sublime imagery…Ms. Johnson reached in and pulled ‘Night of the Flying Horses’ from her heart.”  Nov. 11 performance at 7 pm; Nov. 12 at 3 pm at the Graham Studio Theater, 55 Bethune St.
