Daniel Craig has played James Bond in the films “Casino Royale,” “Quantum of Solace,” “Skyfall,” and “Spectre.” He is the sixth actor to portray James Bond in the film franchise. Craig has also starred in “Munich” and “The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo,” and was nominated for a Primetime Emmy for his narration in the documentary film “One Life.” He stars in the upcoming Showtime adaptation of Jonathan Franzen’s novel “Purity.”
Nicholas Schmidle joined The New Yorker as a staff writer in 2012. His first article for the magazine, “Getting bin Laden,” was a National Magazine Award finalist. He has also written about an Italian book forger and a Russian arms trafficker, for which he was named a 2013 Livingston Award finalist. He is the author of “To Live or to Perish Forever: Two Tumultuous Years in Pakistan.” He received the 2008 Kurt Schork Award for his reporting in Pakistan and Afghanistan.
