The Palestine Festival of Literature (PalFest) was established in 2008 with the aim of showcasing and supporting cultural life in Palestine, breaking the cultural siege imposed on Palestinians by the Israeli military occupation, and strengthening cultural links between Palestine and the rest of the world. This evening’s event celebrates This Is Not A Border, a new anthology edited by Omar Robert Hamilton and Ahdaf Soueif, featuring statements of solidarity from Mahmoud Darwish, Chinua Achebe, J.M. Coetzee, Michael Ondaatje, and many others. Contributors appearing at this event include Molly Crabapple, Remi Kanazi, and Omar Robert Hamilton. “Every literary act, whether it is a great epic poem or an honest piece of journalism or a simple nonsense tale for children is a blow against the forces of stupidity and ignorance and darkness … The Palestine Festival of Literature exists to do just that and I salute it for its work. Not only this year but for as long as it is necessary.” – Philip Pullman
