Conversation with Dr. Alisse Waterston, author of “My Father’s Wars: Migration, Memory, and the Violence of a Century” and Dr. Barbara Rylko-Bauer, author of “A Polish Doctor in the Nazi Camps: My Mother’s Memories of Imprisonment, Immigration, and a Life Remade.” Waterston, professor at John Jay College of Criminal Justice CUNY, uses her anthropology background in this account of her Polish Jewish father’s journey during the Holocaust. Rylko-Bauer, a medical anthropologist and adjunct associate professor at Michigan State University, discusses her Polish Catholic mother’s resistance and wartime experiences.
