Pelé: Birth of a Legend is a biopic that chronicles Brazilian soccer legend Pelé’s meteoric rise from the slums of São Paulo to leading Brazil to win its first ever World Cup in 1958 at the record age of 17. Pelé then led Brazil to win an astounding two more World Cups in 1962 and 1970, and ended his career by popularizing the sport in North America. Considered by many the best ever to play soccer, Pelé saw his name become synonymous with greatness.

Join the National Arts Club in celebrating soccer in the arts at a special screening of this independent film that premiered at the 2016 Tribeca film Festival and features a brilliant musical score from Academy Award winning composer AR Rahman. Following the screening will be a Q&A with special guest Ivan Orlic, founder of Seine Pictures, who produced the film alongside Academy Award winning producer Brian Grazer’s Imagine Entertainment.
