Reading: Darger/Melville

The American Folk Art Museum presents a reading in conjunction with its exhibition Compass: Folk Art in Four Directions at the South Street Seaport Museum.

Speakers: Kevin Miller (curator/educator), and Nicole Haroutunian (writer/educator)

The words of 19th-century New York City writer Herman Melville and 20th-century Chicago artist Henry Darger, both icons in their own right, come alive for a literary mash-up! Join curator/educator Kevin Miller and writer/educator Nicole Haroutunian for a special reading of excerpts from Darger’s weather journals and passages from Meville’s Moby-Dick. Miller and Haroutunian will explore the role weather played for each of these cultural figures and their work.

This event is presented in partnership with the American Folk Art Museum.
