Screening: “Jackson” Doc on Last Abortion Clinic in Mississippi + Panel Discussion

JACKSON – A screening followed by panel discussion – speakers TBA

This intimate documentary tells the story of 3 women in Jackson, Mississippi. The film gives a deep look into the struggle to defend the right to abortion, revolving around access to the only remaining abortion clinic in the entire state. Award-winning film, 2017.

Directed by Maisie Crow: “I grew up in Texas, no stranger to the anti-abortion movement and lived in a culture that glorified virginity and shamed women who embraced their sexuality. As I grew older and really began to question what I had been taught, I found it important to better understand the effects of certain Christian beliefs that permeate the entire Southern landscape…”

“…Elegant, unsettling…” -Village Voice

“The religious (and most likely Republican) are out to hunt Mississippi’s seemingly most vulnerable prey: poor women of color, who for whatever personal reasons are attempting to end their pregnancies the safest way possible.” – VIBE
