Segue Reading Series: Nancy Mercado and Sloppi Chulo

ON SATURDAY, OCTOBER 12th at 5PM, AUTHORS NANCY MERCADO AND SLOPPI CHULO WILL PRESENT AN HOUR-LONG EVENING OF  POETRY AS PART OF THE SEGUE READING SERIES FALL LINE-UP 2024 AT ARTISTS SPACE.

THE POETS
Nancy Mercado received the American Book Award for Lifetime Achievement. She has been featured at Lincoln Center, The Whitney Museum, and the University of Nantes in France, among others. Mercado has authored two books, seven theater plays, and has edited three anthologies. For more info: Nancy-Mercado.com.    

Sloppi Chulo is an actor, playwright, rapper, burlesque performer, and model who has been posing for drawing workshops and bachelorette parties for over a decade. There Once Was a Muse…, a collection of limericks and figurative art based on these adventures in the buff, is his first book of poems.

THE CURATORS
Regie Cabico, a spoken word pioneer and current Executive Director of A Gathering of the Tribes, won the Nuyorican Poets Cafe Grand Slam. His TV credits include HBO’s Def Poetry Jam, TEDx and NPR’s Snap Judgment. His first full-length poetry collection A Rabbit In Search of a Rolex was released by Day Eight in 2023.

Drew Pisarra is the author of two short story collections, You’re Pretty Gay (2021) and Publick Spanking (1996), two sonnet collections, Infinity Standing Up (2019) and Periodic Boyfriends (2023); and two radio plays, The Strange Case of Nick M. (2021) and Price in Purgatory (2023).

The Segue Foundation is an internationally-renowned arts organization based in New York City with a history of commitment to innovative literature, film, and dance. Segue sponsors the experimental Segue Reading Series, a legendary series that has run continuously in New York City for over 40 years.

The Segue Reading Series for Fall 2024 runs every Saturday from Oct. 5 to Nov. 23 at Artists Space (11 Cortlandt Alley, New York, NY, 10013). Tickets are $5 at the door.
