On Thursday November 15th, Solid Objects will present Mac Wellman, reading from his provocative choral play, Left Glove, and Miranda Mellis, reading from her novella, The Spokes. Plus, Long-Island based singer-songwriter, Laura Stevenson, of “Laura Stevenson and the Cans” will give a solo performance. Books, music, wine and snacks. Could an evening get any better?
The Spokes has been described as “a deeply melancholic portrait of the living and the dead […] a radiant piece of work” (Carole Maso). Of Left Glove, Mónica de la Torre writes: “Left Glove will fit thee like a glove if thou relishest the sort of play in which the most awe-insiring acrobatic feats are performed by no other character than language.”
Solid Objects was launched in 2010 by the award-winning New York City based poets, Lisa Lubasch and Max Winter, and is dedicated to printing short, self-contained works which, because of their length, might not otherwise find their way into book form.
