A Spirited Evening with Author Andrea Wulf

New York Times bestselling author Andrea Wulf has a gift for finding the unique and untold story hidden in well-trod historical ground. Spirits guru Steven Grasse has a similar knack for history, taking inspiration from German essayist Walter Benjamin, Pennsylvania Dutch folk recipes, as well as Wulf’s books to create his Art in the Age line of craft spirits.

After detailing the botanical and agricultural interests of America’s founding fathers in her book Founding Gardeners, (which inspired Grasse’s SAGE liquor), Wulf turned her attention to explorer and naturalist Alexander von Humboldt — an almost unknown figure today, despite being the most famous scientist of his age. It is Humboldt’s adventures in South America that inspired Grasse and Wulf to collaborate on a new spirit: created at his new New Hampshire distillery, to be released in conjunction with her new book.

Join Tamworth Distilling, Art in the Age, and Andrea Wulf to celebrate both the release of Andrea’s book, The Invention of Nature: Alexander Von Humboldt’s New World, and the limited-edition spirit developed by Steven Grasse at Tamworth Distilling & Mercantile: Von Humboldt’s Natur Wasser Tamarind Cordial.
