Tao Lin in conversation with Christian Lorentzen

Tao Lin officially enters the world of big six publishing with his eighth published work, Taipei, an autobiographical novel. This begins in 2009 and concerns several years in the life of its 25-year-old protagonist, as he moves from Taiwan to New York City and Las Vegas. In an Observer interview from 2011, Lin said that the book “contains a marriage, somewhat extreme recreational drug usage, parents, [and] a book tour.” Sadly, life doesn’t always imitate art; there will be no marriages or recreational drugs at this reading. There will be parents.
