Caribbean Heritage will be celebrated throughout the Museum this Saturday night. Events include BombaYo performing traditional Afro Puerto Rican bomba drumming (5pm); short films made by women of color who have connections to the Caribbean (5-9pm); the Braata Folk singers present Caribbean folk music (6pm); Selena Blake presents clips from her film Taboo Yardies (6pm); poet Arielle John performs and hosts Pop-Up Carnival with costumes and music (6-9pm); Hands-On Art: explore carving, printing and layering techniques in printmaking to create an island landscape (6:30-8:30pm); the film Papa Machete will be shown at 7pm. A Q&A with the director follows; his film Ackee & Saltfish will be shown at 8pm and a talk-back with the director follows; Naomi Jackson discusses her new novel at 8:30pm; Klash City Sound System and Supa Frendz perform a mash up of reggae, punk and hip-hop (9pm).
