The Golden Ratio: History, Myths & Uses in Nanotechnology

What do the Pyramids of Giza, sunflowers, financial modeling, honeybees and nanotechnology have in common? The Golden Ratio and the Fibonacci sequence! Join Dr. Jacob Trevino and Nanotech NYC as we explore the origins of these intriguing mathematical constructs, delve into the many places they seemly randomly appear in nature, architecture, art and more, shed some light on common misconceptions and lastly explore how these constructs can be used in designing nanostructures for applications in solar cells, LEDs, quantum encryption and more.

The presentation will be accessible to all in attendance and we encourage individuals from all careers and backgrounds to attend. A lively and open discussion will follow the talk. Join us at 6:30 for networking and snacks at the new AntelopeNYC coworking space in the Flatiron District.
