Join us as photographers Sirui Ma and Nick Sansone discuss their recent projects documenting labor in New York City, from Ma’s portraits of MTA conductors to Sansone’s exploration of the city’s iconic bodegas.

Sirui Ma is a London-based photographer. Born in Beijing and raised between there, New York City, and London, she explores themes of multicultural identity and belonging in her work. Moving fluidly between fashion, art, and documentary photography, she finds beauty in quiet, often overlooked moments of daily life.
Nick Sansone is a photographer and filmmaker based in Queens, NY. Sansone graduated from the International Center of Photography in 2019 with a One Year Certificate in Creative Practices. In 2020 Sansone co-founded ‘cademy, a publisher focusing on small editioned photobooks. He has had work exhibited in a variety of venues, such as The New York Times. Good Nature has been exhibited in group shows including A Group Show curated by Joe Miller at 28 Elizabeth Street in 2023 and Family Ties curated by Fernando Zelaya at the Bronx Brewery in 2023. Good Nature was published by ‘cademy in September 2024.
