If nothing completely disappears but only undergoes metamorphosis, what has become of the human sacrifices, practiced for two thousand years in Meso-America before the Spanish conquest? C.G. Jung once claimed that the ancient Greek gods are now our diseases. Certainly, the ancient Aztec heart sacrifices, metamorphosed, are similarly not limited to one country, but act today as a kind of electrical miasma infusing the effort to mold human beings to intelligent machines. How can this be understood so as to transcend its inhuman implications for the future?
