The Story Behind One Voice: Lecture by David Zimmerman

Internationally recognized photographer David Zimmerman will discuss his photographic journey in northern India and the stories of the men, women and children photographed for One Voice, a new body of haunting photographic portraits of displaced Tibetan refugees (currently on view at the gallery until end of November).

One Voice is an ongoing project that began in 2011. For the past two years, David Zimmerman has lived and worked amongst Tibetan refugees, creating a series of intimate portraits and audio recordings chronicling the stories of many hundreds of Tibetans living in exile. One Voice is a story of a people’s struggle to adapt and survive in a new reality. For those who seem to have lost everything though, the soul remains inseparable, and history, and their past, is unchangeable.
