“Unframing” Visual Literacy: Critical Engagement with Art and Visual Culture

How can we critically and creatively engage with visuals to better understand their role in shaping our perception of the world today? Join The Frick Collection for an introduction to visual literacy with Maggie Murphy, Associate Professor, Art & Design Librarian at University of North Carolina, Greensboro. As an interconnected set of practices, habits, and values, visual literacy goes beyond analyzing images. It also involves reflecting on the context in which visuals are produced, the ethical implications of their use, and the creative processes behind them.
