Valentina Kozlova International Ballet Competition

Valentina Kozlova, former principal dancer with the Bolshoi Ballet and New York City Ballet, announces the 7th annual Kozlova International Ballet Competition, rewarding excellence in both classical and modern dance.  Semi-finals were held in Argentina and Russia, and New York will see more Rounds, the Finals, and the presentation of the Awards and a concluding Gala Performance with medalists, guests, and an award to Arthur Mitchell, honored for his major contributions to the world of dance over the years.   Over 100 dancers from Russia to Brazil, ages 11 to 25, will meet in New York to dance before an extraordinary jury led by Andris Liepa, and including Julio Bocca, Charles Jude, Nina Ananiashvili, Nikolai Tsiskaridze, and other renowned figures in the dance world.  Prizes are medals, monetary awards, scholarships to schools around the world, and contracts with dance companies.  Tuesday & Wednesday are ballet rounds; Thursday is for contemporary dance and choreography; Friday are the Finals; on Saturday at 6 the winners will be announced, followed at 7 PM by a Gala Performance with guests Les Ballets Trockadero.  Schedules vary from day to day, so please visit the website for daily details: www.vkibc.org
