Lilly is the founder and host of Memoir Monday, a weekly newsletter and quarterly reading series co-curated by Narratively, The Rumpus, Guernica, Granta, Longreads, and Catapult, featuring the best memoir writers of today. “Burn It Down is a potent literary offering—a revolution born within the collective rage—expressed, unleashed, sublimated, and capsuled to honor our feminist legacy. Scorched earth speaks through these brilliant women who teach us that vulnerability and ire writ large will save those who have been shamed and condemned. Glorious, punk as hell, and utterly necessary.”
—Sophia Shalmiyev, award-winning author of Mother Winter
“Burn It Down is deeply affirming for any woman who has struggled with anger in this difficult world. There is no judgement here; only alchemy.”
—Kelly Sundberg, author of Goodbye, Sweet Girl
Claire Rudy Foster’s recent collection, Shine of the Ever, has received stellar praise, with Pete Rock, Benjamin Percy, O: The Oprah Magazine, and Foreword Reviews singing its praises. By turns tender and punk-tough, Shine of the Ever is a literary mixtape of queer voices out of 1990s Portland. This collection of short stories explores what binds a community of queer and trans people as they negotiate love, screwing up, and learning to forgive themselves for being young and, sometimes, foolish.
“The writing here, in its subtlety and insight, delivers the more lasting, resonant pleasures of lessons learned, and the possibility of brighter futures.”
—Pete Rock, author of My Abandonment
“‘[W]e are a mass of bliss and fury and love and pain and truth and sound,’ Foster writes in the first story of this polychromatic collection of short fiction set in and around Portland. Queue up your Sleater-Kinney records.”
—O: The Oprah Magazine
