What’s a real-life Hogwarts doing in the Manhattan neighborhood of Hamilton Heights? Now’s your chance to explore the secret rooms, tunnels, and rooftops of one of the most impressive university campuses in New York City and the nation, all from the comfort of your living room.

Join New York Adventure Club for a virtual exploration of the historic City College of New York (CCNY): long considered the “poor man’s Harvard,” City College of New York was the first public higher education institution in New York City, and has been dedicated to the access to excellence since 1847.

Led by the architectural historian of the college, Dalton Whiteside, our digital journey throughout this historic campus will include:

– A brief history of Hamilton Heights, the Manhattan neighborhood that was once home to orphan asylums, theatres, and even a concert stadium

– Historic and modern photos of the 1907 college and its iconic Neo-Gothic buildings, which boast over 1,000 unique grotesques and gargoyles (more than anywhere else in the country!)

– A digital showcase of its many historic spaces, including the bell tower, clock tower, and famed Great Hall

– A behind-the-scenes look at secret areas, including the hidden tunnels underneath the campus that have been closed to students for several decades

– Historic archival film footage offering a rare glimpse into the history of CCNY throughout the years
