Insurers, employers, the government, and individuals pay for every procedure, prescription, and lab test, whether or not it makes us better–and that is both backward and dangerous.

Vivian S. Lee, MD, PhD, MBA, has been a practicing physician, scientist, and health care administrator for more than two decades. President of Health Platforms at Verily (Alphabet’s health company), she is also a senior lecturer at Harvard Medical School. Formerly, she was dean of the University of Utah School of Medicine and CEO of University of Utah Health, a system recognized for its excellence and innovation in care.
