Who knows what’s happening beneath the earth’s crust? Geophysicists, volcanologists, and disaster researchers, that’s who! Join Science Friday as we ponder what’s percolating deep in our planet—from quakes, to shifting plates, to volcanic updates.
Adventurers who attend will experience an evening of hands-on experiments with disaster researcher Mika McKinnon and the SciFri team, and see what it’s like to work near an active volcano with geologist Jess Phoenix. The producers of the American Museum of Natural History’s Shelf Life will give us a behind-the-scenes look at the museum’s Experimental Petrology Lab, and volcanologist Dr. Janine Krippner will debunk the biggest volcano myths. Finally, Science Friday Book Club will gather ‘round the fire for a live interview with N.K. Jemisin, author of Hugo Award-winning book The Fifth Season.
It’s gonna be magma-nificent! You’re gonna lava it!
