The New Yorker Festival | “Mr. Robot”

Sam Esmail is the creator, executive producer, director, and writer of USA Network’s Emmy-nominated and Golden Globe-winning psychological-thriller series “Mr. Robot.” The show was awarded a Writers Guild Award, a Gotham Award, a Peabody Award, and a Television Critics Association Award for Outstanding New Program. Esmail’s writing for “Mr. Robot” was also recently nominated for a Primetime Emmy Award. His feature directorial début, “Comet,” which he also wrote, was released by IFC in 2014.

Christian Slater currently costars in the critically acclaimed drama “Mr. Robot,” for which he received a Golden Globe and a Critics’ Choice Award. He stars in “King Cobra,” with James Franco, opening October 24th, and also co-starred with Franco in “The Adderall Diaries,” which premièred at the Tribeca Film Festival in 2015. He’s well known for his roles in “Heathers,” “True Romance” and “Pump up the Volume,” and regularly appears on FX’s animated series “Archer,” as a character named Slater.

Patrick Radden Keefe has been contributing to The New Yorker since 2006. He is the author of two books: “The Snakehead: An Epic Tale of the Chinatown Underworld and the American Dream,” which grew out of an article he published in the magazine, and “Chatter: Uncovering the Echelon Surveillance Network and the Secret World of Global Eavesdropping.” “A Loaded Gun,” his New Yorker story about the mass shooter Amy Bishop, received a National Magazine Award for feature writing in 2014.
