Red Hen Press is proud to present the official launch of Louise Wareham Leonard’s new book ! Join us for the premier event, punctuated by superb readings from Karen Shoemaker, Ann Hood and the musical performance of MacGillivray!

Born in New Zealand, Louise Wareham Leonard moved to Manhattan at age 12 and attended Columbia College. Her first novel, Since You Ask (Akashic Books, 2004), was awarded the James Jones Literary Society Award. Her second, Miss Me A Lot Of, was published in 2007 by Victoria University Press. Her new novel, 52 Men (Red Hen Press, 2015), is launching this very night at KGB Bar! Make sure to be a part of the festivities.

Karen Gettert Shoemaker is the author of Night Sounds and Other Stories (Dufour, 2002) and a novel, The Meaning of Names (Red Hen Press, 2014). Awards for her writing include a Nebraska Press Association Award for Feature Writing, two Independent Artist Fellowship Awards from the Nebraska Arts Council and a Nebraska Book Award for Short Fiction. Her work has been published in a variety of newspapers and journals, including The London Independent, Prairie Schooner, Kalliope, and The South Dakota Review, and anthologized in A Different Plain: Contemporary Nebraska Fiction Writers, Times of Sorrow/Times of Grace, An Untidy Season, and Nebraska Presence: An Anthology of Poetry. She is a faculty mentor with the University of Nebraska’s MFA in Writing Program. She lives in Lincoln, Nebraska, where she and her husband own and operate Shoemaker’s Truck Stop and Travel Center.

Ann Hood is the author of the bestselling novels The Red Thread, The Knitting Circle and Somewhere Off The Coast Of Maine. Her memoir, Comfort: A Journey Through Grief, in which she shares her personal story of losing her 5 year old daughter Grace in 2002, was a New York Times Editor’s Choice and named one of the top 10 nonfiction books of 2008. She lives in Providence, Rhode Island.

MacGillivray is a Scottish writer and artist. Her poetry inhabits a rich artistic universe encompassing performance art, song-writing and the use of visual media such as sculpture and photography. Her poetry has been published in ASLS New Scottish Writing and Magma; her art criticism in Performance Research and several editions of Art Monthly. She has performed alongside writers such as Alan Moore, Don Paterson, Brian Catling and Iain Sinclair. The Last Wolf of Scotland was published in 2013 by Pighog, an imprint of Red Hen Press.
