[Silence Is Accurate] Conversations

Date: Thursday, May 28, 2015, 6:00 PM – 9:30 PM
Location: 138 Sullivan St., New York, NY 10012
Artists: GENTLEMANS GAME & Nicolas Holiber
These Artist Talks are free and open to the public.

[Silence Is Accurate] is excited to present its first in a series of artist conversations featuring New York sculptor Nicolas Holiber and mixed media collaboration GENTLEMANS GAME. These talks will be moderated by [Silence Is Accurate].

[Silence Is Accurate] is an art platform that narrates the journeys of New York’s incredibly inspiring artists. Conversations that transpire during studio visits provide an insight into how each artist constructs the ideas and meaning of their work and how being an artist in New York, during our era, influences their creative process and overall perception of what art is to them.

Our mission is to create a non-pretentious community that is interested, inspired and interactive with the local artists who make our city and region a creative and dynamic home.

GENTLEMANS GAME, mixed media collaborations by Brandon Friend & Jason Douglas Griffin, will be talking at 6:30pm, followed by a Q&A. GENTLEMANS GAME will be discussing their complex collaboration, creative process and latest series “Landlords,” exhibiting at One Art Space, May 14-24, 2015.

Nicolas Holiber, Brooklyn based sculptor, will be talking at 8:00pm, followed by a Q&A.
Nicolas will be discussing his eight-foot-long Head of Goliath installation on view in Tribeca Park, May through September 2015. Combining reclaimed objects with artistic materials, Holiber creates contemporary characters that are inspired by the fragmented remains of ancient sculpture and the artwork from past civilizations. “I see the remnants of a classical bust or an Aztec stone sculpture as testaments of the human spirit throughout time. Likewise, ‘Head of Goliath’ will be a connection to the past and serve as a symbol of that spirit,” remarks Holiber.

Exclusive pieces by the artists are currently on auction at http://biddingowl.com/silenceisaccurate until Friday, May 29th, 2015. Bidders also stand the chance to win a Private Picassos In-Home Group Art Lesson!
