Refugee Kids Documentary Film Screening

refugee_kids1Refugee Kids is a short documentary that follows students at a New York City summer program for children seeking asylum from the world’s most volatile conflicts. The film presents an intimate, emotionally gripping account of the students’ stories of escaping war and conflict and resettling in America, chronicling their triumphs and setbacks as their lives unfold over the course of one formative summer. Filmmakers Renée Silverman and Peter Miller, along with former students of the program, discuss the experiences of these young immigrants. Merrill Zack of HIAS, an organization that has helped refugee families for more than 150 years, joins the conversation.

This event is free and seating is first-come, first-served. Doors will open at 6pm.
