Treasures of the Frick Art Library

Not many people know that the Frick Art Reference Library was the first specialist art history library in the United States. Its Russell Pope building at 10 East 71st Street, adjoining The Frick Collection, was opened in 1935 and was state of the art for its time.

This tour explores the architectural features of the façade, lobby, reading rooms, and (weather permitting) its penthouse terrace overlooking Central Park. There will also be a presentation of some Library treasures and recent acquisitions.
