Join us for a series of performances to celebrate the launch of Lisa Carver’s new book I Love Art! Lisa will be joined by comedian Jacqueline Frances, dancer Rachel Stone, and poet Ana Bozicevic.
Lisa Carver performed as Suckdog, published the zine Rollerderby, paints, and wrote 15 books from Dancing Queen (1996) to The Pahrump Report: Three Years Lost in the Desert (2020). Her newest book, I Love Art, is out this year through TigerBeePress.
Jacqueline Frances (aka Jacq the Stripper) is a stripper, artist and comedian. She is the author of Striptastic! A Celebration of Dope-Ass Cunts Who Like Money and The Beaver Show. She lives in Brooklyn with her wife, dog and plants.
Rachel Stone received her training in ballet and contemporary dance at the Joffrey Academy of Dance in Chicago. Her writing on dance, politics, and culture can be found on BOMB Magazine, The New Republic, The Awl, Fjord Review, and more.
Ana Bozicevic is a poet, translator, teacher, and occasional singer. She is the author of Joy of Missing Out (Birds, LLC, 2017), the Lambda Award-winning Rise in the Fall (Birds, LLC, 2013) and Stars of the Night Commute (Tarpaulin Sky Press, 2009). Choreography for Rachel Stone is by Sophie Andreassi: Sophie is a New York-based director, choreographer, and dramaturg. Recent credits include choreographing “Prototype #4” with Susan Marshall and Jeremy Olson (La Mama Downstairs), assistant directing FIRE AND AIR, written by Terrence McNally and directed by John Doyle (Classic Stage Co.), and working as the dramaturg for “Two Person Operating System” (NY Institute of Fine Arts and Andrea Rosen Gallery, Susan Marshall).
