From articulating the Stax sound as the leader of its house band, to writing some of its most genre-defining music, to working with Isaac Hayes, Bill Withers, Otis Redding, and beyond, Jones tells the story of how a young kid growing up in segregated Memphis helped to transform his city into a musical Mecca—and the incredible ways that his life was transformed in return.
