Military Deployment’s Impact on Families: A Long Table Conversation with Blue Star Families and Stand Beside Them

When members of the Armed Forces go on military deployment, how are their families impacted? How do their relationships weather repeated separations, and how can these relationships be strengthened? Blue Star Families and Stand Beside Them host a discussion with experts and community members on how service members, their families, and their communities can work together to empower families and spouses during military deployment. They seek to end isolation, strengthen family unity, and focus on reintegration once a military family member has returned.

The Rubin Museum invites you to take a seat at the table. Throughout our Year of Power, we are hosting The Long Table, an open-source participatory project conceived by artist and activist Lois Weaver, which provides a forum for visitors and community groups to engage in a series of conversations on sharing power.

This Long Table conversation will be followed by a free tour of the Rubin galleries at 3:00 PM.
