Pulitzer Prize Winner Tania Leon

The Sorel Organization was founded by legendary pianist Claudette to expand opportunities for women in music. To launch a new collaboration celebrating the accomplishments of women musicians, the National Arts Club and the Sorel Organization are thrilled to present composer/conductor Tania Leon, winner of the 2021 Pulitzer Prize for Music.

Leon, founder and artistic director of Composers Now, receives the Sorel Legacy Medallion for her significant contributions as a woman in music and her advocacy for living composers. She discusses her work and her new biography, Tania Leon’s Stride: A Polyrhythmic Life, before introducing a short program of music by emerging women composers from Composers Now.
