Gorana Dance has been based in New York City for the past 15 years. The collective’s style is characterized by lively energy and exciting interpretations of the traditional Bulgarian folkdance form. The company unites generations of Bulgarian and American dancers, including children, around the captivating power of traditional folklore dance. The Founder and Artistic Director of Gorana Dance is Elissaveta Iordanova, a dance artist/choreographer and NYS licensed creative arts/dance therapist. Elissaveta is a recipient of LMCC City grants, mayoral proclamations, and has been supported by the Tienaderrah Foundation. She has presented many lectures and master workshops in dance departments in NYS. Elissaveta always seeks interdisciplinary links, and she facilitates a series of Gorana International Folk Dance festivals with a broad intercultural exchange.
