An Evening with Merle Hoffman “CHOICES: A Post-Roe Abortion Rights Manifesto”

In the wake of the Supreme Court Dobbs decision overturning Roe, Merle Hoffman’s new book, CHOICES: A Post-Roe Abortion Rights Manifesto, presents an unapologetic defense of the fundamental right of every woman to choose when and whether to have a child. She calls out the laws denying the right to abortion as legal slavery.

Merle Hoffman has been a pioneer in the reproductive rights movement for 50 years. In 1971, she founded one of the first abortion clinics in the U.S. (after NY state legalized abortion) before Roe V. Wade. She then developed the clinic into a full-service women’s reproductive health center, Choices (in Queens) which currently serves people from across the U.S. and the world.

“…[Merle Hoffman] faced down death threats and fire-bombings to defend the right of women to makreproductive health decisions.” — Forbes

In 2022, Merle co-founded with Sunsara Taylor and others RiseUp4Abortion Rights — the only national organization to call thousands into the streets aiming to STOP the fascist Supreme Court from overturning the right to abortion.

Join Merle at Revolution Books for an evening sharing her new book and her experience over the years, as we confront the escalating assault on women’s control over their own bodies– these fascists are now going after birth control and the abortion pill– and what this means for the future.

How long will we allow ourselves to be distracted by state-level election activity and coverage? How long will we be reporting on casualty after casualty of this war? How long will we fill the internet with words before we realize it is the streets we must fill — with rage? How long until every single one of us takes responsibility for where we are and where we are going?” — Merle Hoffman in CHOICES: A Post-Roe Abortion Rights Manifesto
