Professor Christine Kinealy, Director of the new Ireland’s Great Hunger Institute at Quinnipiac University, delivers a talk based on her new book, Charity and the Great Hunger in Ireland: The Kindness of Strangers.

A world expert on the Famine, Professor Kinealy’s newest exploration of the topic focuses on the impact of the thousands of people who assisted Ireland after 1845, at a time when government relief programs failed to provide for the struggling population.
