In addition to his position as a Vice Chairman at Lazard, Mr. Parr is also a senior economic advisor to the mayor of the city of Qingdao. From September 2009 to February 2015, he was Chairman of the New York Philharmonic, where he initiated discussions with the city of Shanghai and the Shanghai conservatory, which ultimately led to a multi-year residency that is the first one for any western orchestra with China.
