Coyote Dancers in a Tribute to Dudley Williams

maherbynanmelvilleMaher Benham, former Martha Graham dancer and teacher at the Graham School since 1985, presents her 15-member Coyote Dancers, joined by guest dancers Carlos Fittante and special guest Deborah Zall. The evening will be dedicated to the company’s beloved teacher, mentor, and friend, the late Dudley Williams, and will feature the world premiere of Benham’s “A Song for Dudley,” to music composed and performed live by percussionist Jon Warren, joined by vocalist Henry Holmes singing excerpts from spirituals. Also on the program is the premiere of “Amrutha,” a full company work set to Hayden Wayne’s Hard Rock Symphony; Benham’s acclaimed duet “Waltz Cavern Unto Light,” music by Howard Hanson; and her tribute to Martha Graham, “Eight for Martha,” which premiered last May 11th, the anniversary of Graham’s birth. Guest dancer/choreographer Carlos Fittante will appear in his signature solo “Amantes,” a masked solo of mourning.  At the Graham Studio Theatre, 55 Bethune Street, 11th floor, October 23-25 at 8pm.
