DCTV Presents the NY Premiere of “Nefertiti’s Daughters”

smallDCTV Presents
NEFERTITI’S DAUGHTERS (NY Premiere!)

Join us for the NY premiere of Nefertiti’s Daughters! A story of women, art and revolution, this vibrant new documentary witnesses the critical role that revolutionary street art played—and continues to play—during the political uprisings since the 2011 Egyptian Revolution. Conversations with prominent Egyptian women artists and activists from different generations, including Bahia Shehab, Mira Shihadeh and Salma Samy, weave throughout the vibrant documentary’s narrative. As the women discuss their work and the ways that it is inspired by and responds to a violent and complicated political environment, we are reminded of how art has always been a powerful tool in the ongoing fight for civil and human rights.

Following the screening, we will be joined by Director/Producer Mark Nickolas and Story Consultant Deirdre Boyle. Nickolas is a long-time veteran of US Democratic politics, most notably as an aide to then Vice President Al Gore, and Boyle, a renowned media historian, critic, curator, author and professor.
