Birds have gotten a bad rap: Nut brained. Pigeon heads. Lame duck. The SciFri Book Club is gathering to set the record straight with some local bird brained experts (that’s a compliment, we swear!).
Bring your binoculars and get ready for an indoor birding adventure! This summer, we are reading The Genius of Birds by Jennifer Ackerman and exploring the lives and minds of our fowl friends. Our partner organizations—NYC Audubon, Wild Bird Fund and Feminist Bird Club—will give us the inside swoop on how to live with, care and advocate for local bird residents and visitors. We’ll also be joined by Elizabeth Carlen, “pigeon stalker” and Ph.D. student at Fordham University. You may even get the chance to take the test and find out: Are You Smarter Than a Woodpecker?
This event is part of our summer Book Club conversation about Jennifer Ackerman’s The Genius of Birds. Want to participate? Sign up for our newsletter, or talk to us using the SciFri VoxPop app.
20% of our ticket sales will go to support our non-profit partner organizations.
This is a mixed seated and standing venue. Early birds will get the best seats (AKA, the worms)!
