Eye on Dance Video Showing: Celebrating Bessie Schonberg and Louise Roberts (1986)

ipiotisclip_image002The Eye on Dance video series continues with a free showing of the 1986 episode that features two major and well-loved dance figures – Bessie Schonberg (mentor/composition teacher), and Louise Roberts (mentor/director of Clark Center), in an interview conducted by Eye on Dance creator/producer Celia Ipiotis.  The video includes excerpts of works by Jawole Willa Jo Zollar and Paul Andrew Thompson, as well as Valda Setterfield’s introduction of Schonberg at the First Bessie Awards in 1984 (named for Bessie Schonberg). At the live panel discussion that follows, Ipiotis will explore the impact of Roberts’ and Schonberg’s dedication to encouraging a new generation of dancers, choreographers and mentors will Zollar and Jill Williams, director of Clark Center Remembered.
