Faces in Stone

These days, on your daily walkabout through the city, there are fewer people on the streets, fewer faces to share a smile. But if you look up and around you’ll see plenty of faces, though they may not smile back at you. We invite you to join architect Robert A. King, AIA, on a journey to seek out the stone and terracotta ornamentation that abounds in New York City.

In this virtual walking tour, our guide offers commentary on some of the fantastic and imaginative features of New York buildings you may know but may never have looked at in quite this way. See and understand the gargoyles, grotesques, and other often overlooked stoneworks of art.

This program is presented by The National Arts Club.
