Harper’s Presents: ABC’s Dan Abrams on Theodore Roosevelt

Join Book Culture and Harper’s Magazine on Tuesday, June 25th at 7pm at the W83rd Ministry Center as we celebrate the release of Dan Abram’s Theodore Roosevelt for the Defense.  Harper’s contributing editor Scott Horton will moderate the discussion.

In his latest book, Theodore Roosevelt for the Defense, ABC News chief legal affairs correspondent Dan Abrams, tells the largely forgotten story of the 1915 libel trial against one of America’s most beloved former presidents. Republican Party leader William Barnes, furious after his former friend and ally accuses him of political corruption, sues Roosevelt for a sum that would have ruined him financially. In this timely follow-up to his previous bestseller, Lincoln’s Last Trial, Abrams brings to life an epic courtroom battle where the issues at stake— free speech, libel laws, and inter-party squabbles—are no different than those dominating today’s headlines. Harper’s Magazine contributing editor Scott Horton will moderate the discussion.

Dan Abrams is chief legal affairs correspondent for ABC News as well as the host of top-rated Live PD on A&E Network and The Dan Abrams Show: Where Politics Meets the Law on SiriusXM. He is CEO and founder of Abrams Media, which includes the Law & Crime network and a graduate of Columbia University Law School.

Tickets are $35 and include a copy of Theodore Roosevelt for the Defense and a one-year subscription to Harper’s Magazine.
