Jan Karski was a hero of the Polish resistance who risked his life to smuggle the first eyewitness testimony of the Holocaust out of Nazi-occupied Poland and raise the alarm among Allied leaders. He has been honored as Righteous Among the Nations at Yad Vashem in Israel, and in 2012 was posthumously granted the Presidential Medal of Freedom by President Barack Obama. Wanda Urbanska, the president of the Jan Karski Educational Foundation, will chair a panel of experts to celebrate Jan Karski’s centennial this year and the recent republication of his riveting Wartime memoirs. We will learn more details about the life and achievements of this extraordinary man.
