Her books include “New York Burning,” which won the AnisfieldWolf Book Award, “The Name of War,” which won the Bancroft Prize, and “The Story of America: Essays on Origins.” Her most recent, “Book of Ages: The Life and Opinions of Jane Franklin,” comes out in October.
