Keeping Cool in the Fire: Transforming Inner or Outer Conflict

We are living at a time when conflict, concern, and insecurity are on the rise and can seem pervasive—whether in close relationships, the workplace, or social and political discourse. It is the source of much frustration, despair, anger and burnout, and for those engaged in spiritual or psychological work, it can be a major challenge. How do we respond to injustice without anger? How do we communicate with those with different political views? How do we reduce the tendency to automatic reactivity? Using meditation, short talks, discussion, and interactive exercises, we will learn core principles tol help us approach conflicts as opportunities for reconciliation, steadiness, trust, and compassion. We will be guided by a vision of non-dual “conflict transformation,” rooted in the Buddhist idea of the Middle Way. Dr. Stephen Fulder is the founder and senior teacher of Tovana (the Israel Insight Society), a leading Buddhist practice organization in Israel. He has been involved for many years in peace work in the Middle East and is a founder of the Middle Way organization.
